Courthouse-Square Offices, Industrial Park Units and Lake Property in Conroe, TX

Conroe carries three kinds of door that each want a different answer. Around the downtown square the buildings are older professional offices, often subdivided, where the front is shared and the suites are not. Out at the industrial park on the north side the units are metal-framed with roll-up doors and a personnel door beside them, and the personnel door is where the access control goes. Both sets of owners tend to call for the same reason: somebody left and there is no way to know which keys went with them.

Then there is the lake. Property around Lake Conroe includes a lot of second homes and seasonal rentals that stand empty for long stretches and get handed between cleaners, contractors and guests. Metal keys under a mat are still the norm there, and they are the worst option available. A smart lock with a code per person, changed between stays, is the practical fix and it does not need a wired system behind it.

Access Control FAQs for Conroe, TX

Can a smart lock handle a lake house that sits empty for weeks?

Yes, and it is a good fit. Codes can be issued per person and per period, so the cleaner, the contractor and the guest each have their own and none of them keep working once you say so. The main thing to watch is battery life, which we set you up to check rather than discover.

Our office building is subdivided. Who controls the front door?

Whoever owns the building normally holds the entrance list while each suite runs its own. We set it up that way so a tenant hiring somebody does not have to go through the landlord, and the landlord can still remove a credential from the shared areas.

The keypad digits are worn. Is that actually a problem?

It is. Four worn keys on a ten-key pad narrows the guesswork enormously for anyone who looks. We replace the unit and change the code, and where the same code has been in use for years we suggest a code per person instead.

Do you work on industrial park units with roll-up doors?

We work on the personnel door beside them, which is where access control belongs. The roll-up itself is a different piece of equipment, and we will tell you plainly if what you need there is a door specialist rather than a locksmith.

How quickly can a credential be cancelled?

As soon as somebody with the administrator access opens the system. If the access has been lost, that is the first thing we recover, because until then nothing can be cancelled at all.
